Beck University Starts Wed., July 7th

The very idea that Glenn Beck has the audacity to present his own "Beck University" has folks on the Left really pissed off.  So, what better reason not to sign up?

Here are some of the snarky comments being made by the Chicken Littles even before Beck U has started:

- First, Beck is being criticized for having the unmitigated gall to charge for the course, i.e. requiring that participants be Extreme Insider members, which costs about $75 per year or $9.95 per month.  Beck himself says he's a businessman and doesn't hide his desire to make money.  And yet, these critics don't worry about cable and satellite viewers basically must pay a fee to watch their shows or a website fee to access materials.  And, hey, $9.95 per month?  Well, you could do it on the cheap and just sign up for the 9 weeks and then cancel.  No real skin off your nose.  (Gee, I think I spent almost that catching a rush hour show yesterday.)

- Then, folks like Keith Olbermann, the world's worst Shakespearean actor, charge that Beck's historians are questionable.
Olbermann explored the school’s crest imagery– a feather, George Washington, and a buffalo/”dead guy”– and made the requisite Goldline jokes, but didn’t limit his criticism to Beck. Describing the span of the school’s new professors as “from seemingly legitimate to off-the-charts cuckoo,” he tackled Prof. David Barton in particular, who he called a “pseudo-historian.”
- Then, there is the outright mocking of such a notion made by groups and individuals such as Media Matters, which hypocritcally refers to Beck as "the king of all distorted right-wing media."  MM fails to admit that it is the king of all distorted LEFT-wing media.  In its own "about us" statement, the group says its purpose is a "progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media".  That doesn't sound the least bit biased, does it?

Here's the "hook" that this little fish bit:

It's Glenn Beck .... it hacks off the Left causing frothing at the mouth ... I'm on a mission to study American history ... I'm currently reading about American Progressivism (great book by Pestritto and Atto) ... and, again, the Left is upset ... how could I NOT sign up!

I'm looking forward to school starting tomorrow ... I'm such a nerd!
