The document on right-wing extremism sent last week by this department's Office of Intelligence and Analysis is one in an ongoing series of assessments to provide situational awareness to state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies on the phenomenon and trends of violent radicalization in the United States," Ms. Napolitano said in her statement. The First Lady Michelle Obama has stated that obesity is a threat to national security. Remember all the press hoopla around Michelle's kick-off of her "Let's Move" campaign with those lovely photos of the First Family's garden?
"I was briefed on the general topic, which is one that struck a nerve as someone personally involved in the Timothy McVeigh prosecution," Ms. Napolitano said. [source]
“A recent study put the health care cost of obesity-related diseases at $147 billion a year,” Mrs. Obama said. “This epidemic also impacts the nation’s security, as obesity is now one of the most common disqualifiers for military service.” [source](As if the Obama's care about military service ...)
Then, there's the threat that CARBON plays on national security. Barbara Boxer testified to this:
The P/OedPatriot tipped me off to that video. I love his comment:
"I think she is forgetting something called, Islamic Extremists. Or maybe she really thinks that the basis of Life, Carbon, which is in Everything from Humans to Plants to Soil to the Ocean really is the Greatest National Security Threat. Wow and She is running this Country?"The nation's darling Nancy Pelosi says that the BP oil spill is a threat to national security. Why just the other day, Nancy, in a convocation address at Cornell University, stated that the oil spill was a "moral issue" (... "moral?!?" That's a word in Pelosi's lexicon?) that affects ... here's our key word ... national security. She continued:
“When we see the environmental, economic, and cultural impact of the tragedy on the Gulf Coast, we know that we need a new energy policy,"But, have no fear, my friends, for Dear Leader released last month his National Security Strategy "National Security Strategy." Walter Shapiro of Politics Daily opined, however, that Obama's "strategy" presents more questions than it does answers. Shapiro criticized what is supposed to be an essential document of Obama foreign policy, which made Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's promotion of it difficult:
...
"If you believe as I do that this planet is God’s creation, we have a moral obligation to care for it and pass it on to our future generations in a responsible way,"
...
"In America, we not only have an economic reason, but an ethical responsibilty to create jobs, affordable healthcare, quality education and establishing a new energy policy. These are the pillars of our new prosperity to create jobs. These are our decisions in favor of the future." [source]
What is striking about the Obama national security manifesto is how much of it is grounded in what normally would be described as domestic policy. Littered throughout the document are State of the Union-style promises like offering "access to a complete and competitive education for every American."Veterans, national deficit, oil spill, carbon, fatties -- these are threats to National Security?!? It seems to me that Obama is a threat to our nation's security. Mr. Indecisive couldn't decide for four months about whether to send additional troops to the Mideast, he did nothing about the oil spill for about 40 days and continues to wallow in paralysis, and has unvetted, whacko cabinet members and "czars" running this country.
As the president flatly states in an introduction to the congressionally mandated document: "Our strategy begins by recognizing that our strength and influence abroad begins with steps that we take at home. We must grow the economy and reduce the deficit." By implication, the 2009 stimulus package and the Bush administration's 2008 bank bailout were integral parts of America's National Security Strategy. That is about as much of a stretch as Dwight Eisenhower justifying the interstate highway system on national defense grounds. [source]
Hearing about yet another threat to national security just makes me cringe and groan -- just like when I'm subjected to yet another news story on Lindsay Lohan. (I don't give a flyin' @%$# about Lindsay Lohan!!!!!) What is real news these day -- and what are just distractions?
[By the way, I still find it amusing that Blogger's spellcheck still does not recognize "Obama." It continues to underline it in red as if it were a mistake ... he IS a mistake!]
