Spinning Plates: Miscellaneous Ramblings

Spinning multiple plates at one time -- that's how I've been operating the last couple of weeks.  Remember watching The Ed Sullivan Show and the occasional appearance by some guy spinning plates on sticks?  He would get one plate spinning, then gradually add another and another as he flit about keeping the others going.  That's how the pace of life has been for me lately, as I"m sure it has been the case for everyone else.  By the time I think about getting caught up blogging, I'm too tired or too apathetic to care.  The news has been swirling about with head-spinning issues and voices screaming for attention.  It's overwhelming, especially when that other thing interferes -- life!

So that you, dear reader, don't think I've suddenly fallen off of the face of the earth, I thought I would just churn out a "stream of consciousness" (putting it more kindly than I deserve) of all the goings-on of late ...

ObamaCare: AAAAAAAARRRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!  This is so maddening -- all the backroom, underhanded deals being brokered at the last minute with this bunch of ganovem who have about as many scruples as a cricket has tits!   Again, I say some of those bastards need to be brought up on corruption charges, especially the ones dabbling in extortion-like activities such as the "Cornhusker Deal" and "The Louisiana Purchase".  Bless the Tea Partiers who are fighting to the last man and last minute protesting the insanity and here's hoping it totally fails tomorrow for the supposed final count.

• Tiger Woods: I'm sick of hearing about him.  Poor Elin and the kids.  I do hope Woods continues treatment.  I didn't care to hear his apology -- didn't need it, either.  It did take guts, but ... And the MSM that keep reporting on all the sleaze-bag mistresses who keep doling out the trash ... nauseating.  But, even more nauseating is how much the public gobbles up every lurid detail.  Well, if Clinton made the "BJ" acceptable, sadly mostly among school kids, then I guess Woods' behavior will likewise make it du rigueur to have multiple, random hook-ups with whomever and whenever regardless of whomever and whatever.  Such a sad story ...

The Humorless, Crybaby Left: BlondeSagacity reported on a popular bumper sticker that raised the ire of the far Left at The Daily Kos.  The "Pray for Obama" bumper sticker tagged on the scripture reference of Psalm 109:8 which reads "May his days be few; may another take his place of leadership."  The Far Left (KosKids), goofily interpreting this as a death threat, rattled the cages of merchandisers CafePress and Zazzle and the stickers were pulled.  (Didn't any of those numbnuts notice all the other merchandise at Zazzle and CafePress that are very offensive to both left and right?  It's called "HUMOR", people!)

ClimateGate continues to derail the "global warming" or "climate change" movement.  Our MSM remain strangely silent for the most part.  Luckily, however, some bits of updates do get out despite Gore and his minions still trying to scare us with their dire predictions, hoping we'll gladly don the shackles of servitude to The Goracle.  Check out these articles I've collected over the week:
- "Al Gore's latest global warming whopper": Alan Reynolds of the New York Post writes that  Gore's defense of global-warming hysteria in Sunday's New York Times has many flaws, but focuses on just one whopper -- where the "Inconvenient Truth" man states the opposite of scientific fact.  (This was in response to Gore's op-ed piece in the New York Times on Feb. 27.)

- In the wake of errors, cover-ups and scandal, top United Nations officials will announce Wednesday a review of its Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. "Acknowledging ClimateGate, U.N. to Announce Review of Climate Panel"

- A USAToday story outlines how science academies will review and examine every aspect of how the IPCC's reports are prepared, including the use of non-peer reviewed literature and the reflection of diverse viewpoints,"   "Science academies to review climate report production"

- Earlier this month, FoxNews reported that critics are questioning the accuracy of a 120-year-old weather station network that measures surface temperature in 'Archaic' Network Provides Data Behind Global Warming Theory, Critics Say
Meanwhile, the "scientists" continue to conspire to convince the public of global warming as they fight onwards in their campaign to stir up fear with such stories as 2010 Hurricane season to produce 5 hurricanes and after Britons suffered the coldest winter in 30 years (and think of all the snow here that hit the northeast!), climate scientists claimed that January was the hottest the world has ever seen.  These guys ain't goin' down without a fight ... and they look pretty freakin' pitiful and ridiculous.

Despite the Hummer being sold off by GM ("Government Motors") to Chinese investors, this blogger has no intention of changing the name of her blog!  The Hummer, like the Edsel, will forever be a part of American nostalgia!  Grrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

Nausea in Education:
- How about the high school in Rome that has decided to have condom vending machines? (USAToday)  I shudder to think that this might one day come to the school I teach at!  Oh, and let's add the story that hit here in the U.S. last month about a middle school using its own matchmaking Web site for fundraising.  Students in grades six through ten can pay to find a compatible boyfriend or girlfriend.  (You can read the details here.)

Gee, do I seem a bit edgy to you?  All the crappola going on has been somewhat responsible for my lack of enthusiasm for blogging about it.  Oh, and I should mention that I'm at the beginning phase of doing a major household overhaul ... that will occupy my time quite a bit ... but, it's exciting.  And, I need exciting.  I will end, however, with that  story in the news last week ...

The Court Comes Through!  Weren't you shocked and amazed at last week's announcement that the federal appeals court in San Francisco upheld the use of the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance and "In God We Trust" on U.S. currency???  SAN FRANCISCO?!?  Who'da thunk it!  The court rejected plaintiff Michael Nedow's claims that the use of the phrases disrespected his religious beliefs; but, the court held that the phrases do not violate the principle of separation of church and state.  Judge Carlos Bea, writing for the majority 2-1 ruling, wrote that the Pledge is constitutional.  "The Pledge of Allegiance serves to unite our vast nation through the proud recitation of some of the ideals upon which our Republic was founded."  This restored my faith in our nation possibly returning to our former glory.
