Eggo Shortage! Dear Leader, Please Save Us from This Calamity!

This caught my eyes today, too --

It's going to be nearly impossible to find Eggo waffles in your local grocery store for a while.

Kellogg's says its Eggo bakery in Atlanta was heavily damaged by flooding.  At the same time, the company is in the process of making significant equipment enhancements and repairs in its largest waffle bakery.  Kellogg's says that work is taking longer than expected.

Kellogg's says it is working hard to get the waffles back on store shelves as soon as possible.  It said full distribution of Eggo products should resume by the middle of 2010.

Kellogg's invites customers with questions to call 866-971-3320.
MSN Money reports that the problem was compounded by equipment repairs to the company's biggest waffle bakery in Rossville, Tenn.
"We are working around the clock to restore Eggo store inventories to normal levels as quickly as possible," spokesman Kris Charles said. The currenly available Eggos will be rationed to stores nationwide "based on historical percentage of business," Charles said.
...
The "temporary supply disruption" contributed to a 3% decline in sales in Kellogg's North American frozen and specialty channels ... Shares of Kellogg's were down 37 cents today to $53.03.
Maybe Obama can pump some of our ... er, his ... stimulus money down to Atlanta to get the plant opened back up!
