UPDATE: Youth Sentenced In Murder of Police Officer

Two years ago I posted an entry about the sad story of a teenager who shot and killed a young patrolman who had requested to patrol his own neighborhood. Officer Norvelle Brown, a first-year policeman was at the start of a promising career as a public servant when he was gunned down by a 15-year-old. [Go here for the original post.]

Today, that youth was found guilty of murder. Here's the story:
Teen Guilty of Killing St. Louis Officer

ST. LOUIS -- Allie Brown walked out a St. Louis courthouse on Wednesday evening and raised her hands in the air in joy, celebrating the guilty verdict against the teen accused of murdering her son, Officer Norvelle Brown. "Thank you, Lord," said Allie Brown.

The jury took just over five hours to find Antonio Andrews guilty of first-degree murder and armed criminal action in Brown’s death. He will be sentenced to life in prison without parole on Oct. 9.

"I feel so good that it’s over with," Allie Brown said. She said that she forgives Andrews and does not hate him. The verdict came almost two years to the day after her 22-year-old son was shot to death after a brief chase in the 1600 block of Semple Avenue on Aug. 15, 2007.

Police Chief Dan Isom also was pleased with the verdict."We believe that the jury came up with the right decision," he said Wednesday night.
So much promise ... so much to offer his community ... a good life too soon snuffed out.
