St. Louis Town Hall Meetings: UPDATE on Violence

Today on FoxNews, Neil Cavuto interviewed Kenneth Gladney, the man assaulted outside Wednesday night's town hall meeting with Rep. Russ Carnahan (D-MO).

Now, here's the outrage! SEIU claims that the man attacked last night was a reverend and member of SEIU! This is from their website:

Stop the violence at health care town halls

Things are turning ugly. Town halls, which typically serve as open, safe environments to ask questions of elected officials, have degenerated into violent shouting matches.

Last night in St. Louis, Missouri, a reverend and member of SEIU was assaulted at a town hall. The incident, along with a town hall in Tampa, Florida, has been all over the radio and cable news shows. GOP operatives are rushing to paint it as SEIU "thug" violence. That couldn't be further from the truth.

WHAAATTTT???!!!!?????

Today, Jamie Allman of 97.1FM talk radio learned about an unannounced press meeting given by Rep. Russ Carnahan (D-MO), and the former Channel 4 news reporter questioned Carnahan about last night's incident:

I like how Carnahan keeps playing innocent, but Allman comes right back at him each time with the information Carnahan should (and most likely does) know. You'll notice a lady following Allman's questions -- Betsy Bruce , a Channel 2 reporter. It's hard to hear, but she informs Carnahan that the Missouri Republican has flatly denied any organized effort behind disruptions at town hall meetings, while the Democratic committee on the Internet urged people to come out and be more vocal and that there were e-mails from the Obama groups hoping people would come out. Carnahan counters with saying the John Boehner and other Repub leaders have urged people to show up and disrupt meetings.

Now, here's how Betsy Bruce's report aired later that evening:

This violent episode has caused another area school district to cancel a town hall meeting with Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO), that was scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 11th. McCaskill's office says they will try to accomodate those who wish to attend at her Jefferson County meeting that same day.
